The Chef

Well let me first start off by confessing that I am not a professional chef…at least not yet.

I started cooking when I was about 12 years old. My dad was a commercial fisherman and my summer job was as his deckhand and cook. I enjoyed doing both, but cooking was certainly my passion.

I retired a year ago from a very rewarding career in public service and I am grateful to now have more time for my culinary pursuits.

As I age, cooking to support better health has become a priority and I have been very interested in the benefits of the ketogenic (low carbohydrate) diet. Learning to cook for a ketogenic diet has been challenging, especially in the area of desserts. There certainly are not many keto friendly prepared foods out there yet, so preparing keto friendly foods has lately become a focus of my cooking.

This Blog comes at the prompting of my daughter Brianne, who thought the Blog would be a great way for me to share our passion for cooking and eating great food.
